Chip Roll
Another Dutch Boyd trick displayed during the 2003 and 2004 World Series of Poker episodes. This is a neat trick because each poker chip actually loses contact with your hands while being executed.
Before you begin
Trick Difficulty - 2
Chips needed - 3 or more
Tutorial
Hold the chip between your thumb and index finger so that they are perpendicular to your fingers. Line the rest of your fingers up against the index finger. Place your hand on the table so that the pinky is on the table and the rest of the hand is at a 45 degree angle to the table.
One by one you will release the pressure that your thumb places on each chip, starting with the chip closest to the finger tips. As you release pressure, the chip will roll down the rest of the ringer. As each chip hits the pinky it will almost get shot outwards so that it rolls in a straight line. Let the chips roll for a bit and catch them with your other hand before they roll into someone else’s stack of chips.
I have to admit that I never practice this trick because it takes a soft table surface to get a good roll. Since I haven’t tried it many times, I can’t advise as to the best way to catch the chips after they roll out.

Instead of stopping the chip standing up, knock the chips over one at a time into a setup for The Sweep, then sweep them. Combine two simple tricks into one cool trick! Although it would probably be pretty tough to stop the chips like that, hehe

I really don’t like this trick. It’s not very impressive. It’s very easy, and if somebody watches you do it a few times, they can do it also. If there was a more impressive thing to do with it, then it would be better. It just looks too simple, just like The Sweep.

very easy trick. what i found pretty fun was to catch one chip with your index and thumb then knuckle roll it to the pinky and back then roll it back to the original hand. this looks cool and is a great way to merge two tricks

Simple to catch. Place catching hand at 45 angle with thumb sticking out towards other hand and catching hand cupped. As the chips roll towards you catch them with your thumb and bring them into you cupped hand which makes a neat stack. Trick looks even cooler if you can release chips milliseconds after each other, forming almost a continous line.

I just about drove the dealers at the Luxor nuts using this trick over the weekend. The railbirds and other players at the table thought it was pretty cool. If you catch the chips between your thumb and forefinger and keep it to about three, you can roll them back and forth and back and forth from your left hand to your right.
One other variation is to try to keep the chips together -fairly easy to do with some of the sticky chips at the casino.

I got the roll pretty quickly. I came up with a catch by accident that’s pretty neat…release all but the last chip and catch them with your hand at a 45 degree angle so they are all still standing up vertical on the table under your fingers. As the next to the last chip is caught, let the last one go and see if you can stop it standing up, edge to edge, against the other chips. It’s hit or miss at first but I getting to more than 50% now.
