Poker Chip Twirl Hop

The Twirl Hop, by Jonjo Glynn, is a combination of the twirl and a chip “hopping” through the air.

Tutorial

To be as clear as possible I’m gonna number the chips used in the trick.
Chip 1 is the chip that starts nearest to your fingertips.
Chip 2 is the chip in the middle
Chip 3 is the chip nearest your palms

  1. Start with the regular twirl grip.
  2. Drop Chip 2 Down and twirl as normal.
  3. Instead of pushing chip 2 back between chips 1 & 3, use your ring finger to position the top edge of chip 2 with the bottom edge of chip 1.
  4. Here comes the tricky bit: Press upwards with your ring finger on the bottom of chip 2 so that chip 1 pops out of your grip and hops over chip three.
  5. Catch chip 1 somewhere between chip 3 and your palm (the closer to chip 3 the better it looks) while keeping chips 2 & 3 in the original twirl grip.
  6. Finish back in the twirl starting position and look smug you just pulled off the Twirl Hop.
Tip
When chip 1 is popped up into the hop it should spin (not flip).
Note #1
This trick is very hard to explain in words it makes much more sense when viewed with the video’s which can be found at either on the submitted chip trick videos page of this site
Note #2
When i first posted this trick a lot of people said ” yeah yeah but i bet you can only do it 1 time in 50″. This is not true. The first time i tried the trick i thought it was gonna be impossible to get it consistent. Once you get the knack of it, its not nearly as hard as it looks <-----(don't tell anyone). I'm up to about 95% consistency for perfect hops and 100% sketchy hops.
Note #3
I think this is a good variation to throw in while your doing front to backs and twirls. I’ve never met anyone who’s seen it before and it usually get a good (if surprised) reaction.
